Brooklyn, NY / since 2021
Just a few students, one stubborn idea, and software people actually want to use.
Emagenware Inc builds games, mods, and tools with the same north star we started with: make it feel good, make it useful, and keep the work honest.
Our story
We started before the company name did.
Emagenware began with three college students from Seton Hall University and a puzzle stacker prototype called Project: Tetraverse. It changed names a few times, from Shaytris to Project: Mino, before finally becoming Polytris.
In January 2021, the goal was simple and wildly ambitious: build the best puzzle stacker we could while following the Free Open Source Software philosophy. Polytris gave us momentum, a real audience, and a reason to keep making things.
What followed
From puzzle blocks to particle worlds.
After Polytris, we built Dustgrounds, an open source particle simulation game where people could experiment with elements, reactions, and tiny systems that behave in satisfying ways.
Then came Dustgrounds 2, Minecraft mods, client work, and software like Wallzer. The projects changed shape, but the taste stayed the same: tools and games that do what they are meant to do well.
Core philosophy
The rules we actually try to live by.
Don't stop! Emagen!
Every decision starts with the user before the money. Before asking whether something makes us richer, we ask how to make the idea better, sharper, and more useful. Keep trying until it works.
Actions speak louder than words.
Be reliable and follow through. If we say we will do something, we do it. If we get off-track, we communicate clearly and keep moving.
Big universe, small world.
Everyone here is human. Respect for our users and long-term connections come first, because users before profit is not a slogan for us. It is where the work starts.
